During the April 2018 Board of Directors meeting in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the BMW MOA Board of Directors announced three items of importance in regards to the MOA's annual rally.

Due to member feedback and after lengthy debate, the 2019 rally will be held in June. The rally dates are Thursday through Saturday, 13-15 June 2019. The Board has not committed future rallies to this same weekend in June, but will retain flexibility as the new schedule is implemented.

The location for the 2019 rally was announced as well. The 2019 MOA Rally will be held in Lebanon, Tennessee, at the James E. Ward Agricultural and Community Center/Wilson County Exposition Center.

Finally, the Board approved and announced the implementation of a new three-zone Rally Rotation Map. Following the 2019 rally in Tennessee, the 2020 rally will be held in the Western Zone, with the 2021 rally being held in the Central Zone. The rally will return to the Eastern Zone in 2022.

This will be my 3rd TN MOA Rally to attend. My first was the 1981 Rally at Loretta Lynn's Dude Ranch in Waverly, TN. Lebanon, TN is going to be a great location for the Rally. A number of improvements have been made to the rally grounds in recent years. Good roads to the north, east and south. Plenty of hotels and places to eat. There are tons a fun things to do in Nashville. Come early, stay late. Be sure to check out the Lane Motor Museum, the Jack Daniel's Distillery and the Bavarian Bierhaus (15,000sf German Bierhall and restaurant). Best of all, it is only 40 minutes from my home to the rally site. Welcome to Tennessee!

Happy to see the new June date and more scenic location selection. I have been a MOA member longer than RA but never attended a MOA national ( enjoyed several get-a-ways and other MOA club events ) but have attended RA national events because of location and local temperatures. Looking forward to my first MOA national in TN in June. Thanks for breaking with tradition and going with June compared to July.

I have been an MOA member for 38 years and have attended 37 national rallies. The location is only a destination. If there isn't good riding in the area, enjoy the journey. We live in Indiana and on the way home from Des Moines we rode to Newfoundland. Just always remember "Any where you go before you get to where you are going in ON THE WAY". The rally is a gathering place to visit with old friends and meet long time new one's. Putting on the rally isn't easy and the people doing it should be applauded without listening to complaints. Remember try not to be part of the problem but instead be part of the solution. Come early and help set up and you can see the work that goes into the "party". See all y'all in June.

Looking forward to the ride, I hope to encourage and a good turnout from Central Ontario... The heat in Des Moines 2018 was a bit of a shock to the system, it was my first Rally and I enjoyed it very much. 2019 to Lebanon will be a much better ride, Great twisties along the way not as much super slab... If any!

Congratulations to the MOA Board for courageously breaking with the bad habit of holding rallies during the deadly heat of mid-July. My wife and I have for years looked forward to attending our rallies all over the USA & Canada too, but have had to cancel our rides and return home when the mercury hit 106*F several years in a row. Of late, we have thrown in the towel and driven the air conditioned cage, but that is just not the same. As they say in West Virginia, "Lord willin', and the crick don't rise", we'll make it to Tennessee in June.

Seems like a good plan to me. Three zones moves the rally around the country effectively giving everyone a chance regardless of where they live. June should be good, too. Looking forward to the rally in Lebanon!

Did you really mean to put the 2019 Rally on Fathers Day weekend or was it an oversight? Some, if not a most of us that are part of the MOA are Dads and some may even still have our parents with us! I know this is not your problem, but I get to see all my kids (in one place) only twice per year and attending this event will reduce it to only once at Christmas.... I am sure you have your reasons for picking this date. I am truly sad that I most likely will not be there. Please rethink this particular weekend for next year.

I've been to many rallies since the 2nd one in the Carolinas and the Mid-week June rally in Texas was great. Glad 2019 rally is in more scenic area than Des Moines. Jim, 2972

To the MOA-- You are never going to please everybody. I've only been a member for a little over a year. So, take my opinion for what it's worth. I've read a ton of negative posts about the new way and the old way. My message is don't sweat it. It sounds like Idaho was great. It sounds like Des Moines was great. Lebanon will be great, too. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for what you do. I think mixing it up is a good thing.

My concern would be for the more severe type weather more likely to occur in the spring then in the fall.

Hi, what happened to the map? Did someone delete Canada with a pair of scissors? How about a rally in Canada again? Regards, Rod.

I like the switch to June. Not a problem for me personally but it's Father's Day weekend.

This is good news as July is considered too warm for many riders, specially if rallies were to be held in the desert regions. Perhaps the next step could be to reevaluate those venue's where the most successful rallies in the most scenic areas were held and revisit those? IMHO this would attract more riders and thus a higher revenue stream for the MOA as a result.

I like the earlier dates as they may help for cooler rides from the West. The map is very helpful in keeping track of where and when, past and present. I support this.

We have been asking for a June or September rally for years. Happy to hear that we are going to finally try that. Looking forward to it so "onward". mike

I realize Rally location selection is a contentious subject. I think the changes are a step forward. Changing the timing is refreshing. Realizing that there are security and other criteria for site selection it would be nice to have locations in less urbanized locations, IMHO. But, that's just me. In the end, if there's a rally I'm going.

A new era has dawned for the National Rally, and one I consider favorable. Along with that a zone rotation that is geographically logical! "travel'n" john ... endorses this action & commends our BOD.
