On Friday, 20 March 2020, BMW Motorcycle Owners of America Executive Director Ted Moyer announced the rescheduling of two Getaway weekends from their original dates in April and May to new dates in August.

“It was North Carolina banning events of 100 or more that triggered the move,” Moyer said. “The Fontana Dam Getaway always sells out and that means over 100 people.” The new date for the Fontana Getaway, originally scheduled for 24-25 April, is 28-29 August 2020.

Similarly, the Getaway at the Inn of the Ozarks in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, is being rescheduled from 8-9 May to 7-9 August 2020.

In constant contact with the management at both locations, the MOA was able to find alternate dates quickly and arrange for all existing reservations to be moved over to the new date. Members who wish to attend the Getaways rescheduled for August need do nothing more than show up on the new dates – everything is arranged for them.

Recognizing the new dates may not be convenient for everybody who is already registered for the Getaways, Moyer said, “I fully appreciate this will not be ideal for everyone, but the new dates are the best opportunity to accommodate as many as possible during these uncertain times.”

The details are as follows:

  • Your event registration will automatically transfer to the new dates.
  • Fontana Lodge reservations have been automatically moved to the new weekend in August. If you would like to confirm the change in your lodging reservation, please call the Fontana Lodge directly at 800.849.2258
  • Eureka Springs reservations must be adjusted or cancelled directly with the hotel by calling 479.253.9768.
  • If you prefer to cancel your event registration, simply call the Membership Team at 864.438.0962 or send an email to membership@bmwmoa.org with the subject line “GETAWAY” for quick service. The MOA accepts cancellations and will issue refunds until 30 days before any event.
  • In the event you decide to cancel your attendance, remember to cancel your lodging reservation too, using the numbers for each venue above.

“Of course we’re disappointed we were forced to change the Getaway dates,” Moyer said. “It inconveniences our members. Under the current circumstances, it’s the only logical choice and I sincerely hope everybody can make the new August dates. We worked to find a solution that should work for most members and keep them 100% whole.”

Ted Moyer can be reached at the main office, 864.438.0962, along with the Membership Team, should MOA members have any questions or concerns. Thank you for being a member!

Still not seeing any information posted about the May Getaways in Idaho and California. I've heard from other sources that Idaho is cancelled but it still shows as scheduled on the event calendar.?

The R100RS drawing will still be held in late April and a location to be determined. And we hope to have an update on the Coeur d'Alene Getaway soon.
