The BMW Motorcycle Owners of America will return to Virginia International Raceway on Monday, September 14, 2015 for a Cornerspeed Advanced Riding School. The inaugural event was held in 2014 with over 30 BMW MOA members receiving special track day type instruction from Aaron Stevenson and a team of accomplished roadracing professionals at Cornerspeed.

Class participants learned the finer points of “piloting” their motorcycle on the historic VIR South Course. Topics are broken into one hour segments with 30 minutes of class lecture and 20 minutes of implementation on the track. Throughout the day, Stevenson covered body position, throttle control, braking techniques, site lines and corner speed.

Although completing the class qualifies the participant for their roadracing license, Stevenson says the class isn’t a roadracing class. “Cornerspeed is about advanced riding techniques that can be applied to everyday riding. We practice on a racetrack to control the environment and perfect the technique, but it isn’t about racing. It is about improving the finer skills of riding smoothly,” says Stevenson.

MOA members benefit from an exclusive day on track and smaller class sizes. Stevenson’s instructors often work one-on-one with MOA members to perfect the classroom techniques. “Our instructors take a personal interest in each rider. We’ll show you the line or technique on track and then debrief once the session is over. Before the day is complete, I guarantee you will have received more than your share of instruction,” said Stevenson.

All brands and styles of motorcycles are welcome. Previous participants have trained on a mixture of motorcycles including S 1000 RRs, R 1200 RTs, R 1200 GS’s and even a GSX-R750 and a Ducati 999. For more information, MOA members can visit to register for the event.
