The U.S. motorcycle market continued to struggle as it declined 36% in February 2010 compared to the same month last year. Against this challenging backdrop, BMW Motorrad USA posted a 52 percent increase in retail sales in the same period. The spike in February retail sales is largely attributed to the long-awaited availability of the production version of the BMW S 1000 RR Superbike, the most powerful and sophisticated sport bike ever produced. Dealers had confirmed deposits on over 600 bikes and deliveries to customers began in late January and continued through February. Other top-selling models included the R 1200…

(Photos: Jud Bartlett) (Top Photo: Ian Schmeisser) A grand total of 14 riders representing the TEAM MAX BMW dealership in New Hampshire made the long journey to South Carolina to compete in the annual Sandblast Rally, which takes place on closed roads throughout the Sand Hills State Forest. It was the fourth time in the rally's 14 year history that a team from the dealership was represented, but they had never encountered weather conditions like these before. The rally cars and motorcycles that compete at the Sandblast Rally have to be fully street legal, registered and insured, and this is…

Perhaps one of the most liberating aspects of motorcycling is that you don't need to justify getting out on two wheels. Whether you're a fan of adventure riding, sports bikes, commuting to work on a bike or just cruising around town, the overwhelming sense of freedom is the same. Photographer Mike Rand has combined his love of motorcycling with a passion for his chosen art form. The freedom of two wheels has allowed Mike access to some extraordinary locations which form the backdrop to his equally breathtaking images. Riding a BMW R 1150 GS, Mike has extensively toured Australia, Canada…

Knowing full well that she'd be in danger of losing this famous rodeo star to a new-found love for an 'iron horse', the acclaimed American singer, songwriter, actress and poet was determined to join him on her own bike and share this new world of adventure motorcycling.
Self-confessed 'petrol head' Jack Bromall (BMW MOA #65086) has completed a 60-day motorcycle ride to Alaska from his home in Philadelphia. His aims were to raise funds and awareness for a charity close to his heart. Not only did he succeed in his ambitions, but he also experienced the awesome surroundings of the Canadian Rockies and the thrill of a long-distance motorcycle ride. Jack, a retired engineer, has a lust for all-things petrol powered. Ever since he first sampled the joys of motorcycling from the pillion seat of his school friend's bike over 40 years ago, he's been hooked. However,…
