The BMW MOA Mileage contest began in 1975 and was originally coordinated by Chip Goleman. Begun with the idea of encouraging riding during the 6 months of the primary riding/rally season, the contest was coordinated by Chip until 1983 when he relinquished the rolekeeping to Ken "Mac" McHugh. "Mac" resigned after the 1992 contest, and Karol Patzer has been tallying since the 1993 Mileage Contest. Karol wrapped up her duties in 2007 and passed the mileage contest batton to Steve Brunner.
