For some wonderful riding and fishing, try the campgrounds up the Green River outside Pinedale. This area is just southeast from the Tetons and Yellowstone.

Privately owned. CLEAN! and well-kept. Discovered on way to Missoula '98; went out of our way to stay here on return. Tent sites separate from Motor Homes. Family type atmosphere. Situated away from main road far enough and with sufficient foliage to block or drown out most road noise.  Tent area level & grassy, few rocks, drained well, gravel access drive. The usual services nearby; food, fuel, etc. Not high up in mountains, so temperature stays mild at night. This campsite deserves recognition. The owners make every effort to cater to your needs. Price reasonable; I think it was around $12-$14 per tent. Worth every penny.

Lander City Park

Lander is a small friendly town of about 7,000. They have a city park where camping is allowed for three days either for tents or RV's (no hook-ups) at no charge. The park is quite nice with many trees and is safe at night. There are restrooms but no showers, although there is a swimming pool nearby with showers and I think one motel sells showers for five bucks.

During summers, I see several cross-country bicyclists tent camped in our park as Lander sits on a route that passes through Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Last June I counted 174 tents in the park on a Friday night during the International Climbing Festival, held here each year.
