We would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone to the 39^th annual BMW MOA International Rally as we gather in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania next summer. The dates for the rally are July 21-24, 2011. The local fairgrounds will be the main gathering area for our rally and will provide acres and acres of camping and rally festivities for your enjoyment. Bloomsburg is located in Columbia county. As a warning, your GPS may have two Bloomsburgs in Pennsylvania. We are headed to the larger of the two which is located about forty miles southwest of Wilkes-Barre. If you arrive in Bloomsburg on July 21, 2011 and you don’t see a few thousand other BMW riders, you are probably at the wrong Bloomsburg, but don’t despair as you are not that far off. Point your bike toward the other one and keep riding.

The correct Bloomsburg is a small quiet historic town, when Bloomsburg University is not in session and the BMW riders are not in town. You will find wonderful roads ranging from mountains to farmlands with a large concentration of covered bridges scattered around the area. The historic downtown provides a nice area for walking, dining, and photographing the historic David Stroup water fountain. If you end up wandering around downtown and lose track of time, the 24 hour Bloomsburg Diner on the north end of downtown will be glad to serve you anytime of day. Otherwise, you will have a number of choices for dining. 

For many of us, attending the BMW MOA Rally provides the chance to catch up with old friends and to make new ones. We gather annually to celebrate our devotion to internal combustion engines and two-wheeled transportation. All of us anticipate the opportunity for a ride to a destination where others will gather to enjoy our passion. For some of us, once we pitch our tent in the rally grounds, we spend most of our time renewing friendships, attending seminars, and shopping for the latest farkle to add to our bike. Others see the rally grounds as a focal point from which to venture for daily rides and excursions to new places in the area. 

This Rally will feature many of the tried and true mainstays of BMW MOA rallies, such as music, vendors, camping, and seminars. In addition, we will have a few new items to add to the agenda. Whatever your particular interest, we trust you will find something that will make your trip a great experience. 

Load the bike, pack the car, throw out a thumb and hitchhike, or reserve a seat on a plane. Just make sure you are headed to Pennsylvania this July. We want you to help us set a new attendance record of more than 10,000 happy attendees. We will have activities for all age groups with special plans for children and young people, but we won’t forget us old timers either. Of course, Camp GEARS will be available for our younger riders that want to arrive early and spend time with other young folks as they gain valuable motorcycle and touring tips from experienced riders.  

We want to invite everyone to help us make this the best BMW MOA Rally ever. Our rallies depend on hundreds of volunteers and thousands of volunteer hours. Please consider joining the fun and spending a few hours volunteering and meeting new people. There are a wide variety of opportunities available, so find one that suits your interests. 

Watch the BMW Owners News and the BMW MOA Web site for updates on the Rally. For many members, winter months are a time of vicarious riding and planning for the next riding season. The magazine and Web site can help you with this endeavor. We encourage everyone to make plans to join us next summer in Bloomsburg.
