| 2006 Rally: Camp Gears | March 13, 2006 |
| A special motorcycle experience for young riders ages 16 through 26. |
The BMW MOA Foundation will again host Camp Gears (Gaining Early Advanced Riding Skills) on Tuesday, July 18 and Wednesday, July 19 – the two days immediately preceding the BMW MOA International Rally in Vermont. Camp Gears is designed to provide an opportunity for young riders to hang out with each other in a fun, educational, motorcycle oriented environment regardless of the brand of motorcycle they ride and their experience level.
Camp Gears is open to licensed motorcycle riders ages 16 through 26. There is no charge for attendance at Camp Gears, and attending the camp will entitle the Gears campers to free admission to the BMW MOA International Rally the three days following Camp Gears. Riders under the age of 21 must have the written permission of their parent or guardian to attend, and parents, guardians, or other responsible adults are encouraged to accompany minors attending the camp. Local BMW Chartered Clubs are encouraged to identify young riders who would enjoy and benefit from Camp Gears, and to encourage and assist those riders to attend.
During the two-day camp riders will attend sessions on several topics important to motorcycle enthusiasts. These topics include:
- Knowing and Understanding Your Motorcycle
Basic Mechanics
Pre-Ride Inspections
Roadside Repairs
- Touring in Comfort and Style
Riding Gear
Riding Equipment
Loading and Packing
