Chris Peris of Team Iron Horse BMW/ESP (Tucson, AZ) lined up on the third row in ninth place for race one at Infineon. It was not the position the team was hoping for, but they were methodically working through different set-ups for the tight, technical track in Sears Point. Unlike the wide open, high horsepower tracks, Infineon presents special challenges for the new S1000RR. Team Iron Horse BMW with Evan Steel Performance (ESP) made the bike work for the track and finished with BMW's top finish in an AMA Pro National Guard Superbike race to date on the S1000RR. Not only did the team to come from behind, but they were the only privateer team in the top five. That makes the result even sweeter.

Evan Steel - Crew Chief: "I am again so happy to be involved with this team, we have an unbelievably dedicated and talented group this year! Everyone worked so hard, and stayed focused throughout practice and qualifying. We now have a very consistent bike which is comfortable for Chris to ride hard, as well as easy on the tires, so it made for a solid race result. Now that we are achieving good consistency over race distance, we need to find some more raw speed to get up in the battle for podium positions. However, if we keep working in the manner we have been this year, I believe we can get there soon."
