Husqvarna team takes the win in Australian Transmoto

 A four-man team of Husqvarna riders entered the inaugural Transmoto 12 hour race at Buckenboura in New South Wales and came away with a superb victory, having led this marathon team enduro all day, from start to finish.

Husqvarna was represented at the race by a four-man team consisting of Husqvarna Australia factory riders Glenn Kearney and Luka Bussa and PSC Husqvarna Offroad Team master Damian Smith and apprentice Tom Kite.

The event attracted some 300 riders and was held in perfect conditions on private land at Buckenboura, a secluded riders' oasis not far from the bustling seaside town of Bateman's Bay. Some of the industry's best enduro specialists set out a fantastic 10km loop for the race and it held up to an absolute pounding of several hundred riders and their machines, weathering the effects of constant lapping from 7am to 7pm.

Luka Bussa contested the event prologue on the Saturday afternoon after winning a coin flip for the honour, and went on to secure fastest time for the Husqvarna team. Bussa's prologue win set the scene for Sunday's racing, and he elected to ride first followed by Damian Smith. Grand National Cross Country legend Glenn Kearney took over from Smith and the team order was rounded out by Tom Kite.

The team was comfortably in the lead all day and comfortably took the win in the event, much to the delight of Glenn Kearney: "The Transmoto 12 hour endurance race was an awesome day of racing for our Husqvarna team. It started with Luka Bussa setting the fastest prologue time on his TE250, which enabled us to start the race on pole position," he said.

"Damien Smith went out next on the TE310 and extended the lead Luka had built. I then went out about three hours into the race and our lead continued to grow as our fourth team rider Tom Kite hit the track for his session. The Husqvarna team dominated all 12 hours never surrendering the lead and winning the event with a five-lap lead, having completed a total of 39 laps. The event was great fun to compete in and the track was in perfect condition. All four Husqvarna team riders want to say a big thank you to Husqvarna for the support to win this inaugural 12 hour race."

This was a view shared by team-mate Damien Smith, who commented: "I had so much fun at this event, and I'm pretty sure that was the intention behind the concept - to get riders out on their bikes having fun. Everything went smoothly, the track was great, the weather was great, the TE310 was unstoppable - you couldn't ask for anything more really," he said.

"Of course, being racers at heart we all set out to win, and I'm happy to say that's exactly what we did. Tom Kite did great, achieving his first win just two races into the season. Luka was awesome in the prologue and watching the expert Kearney in action was very cool. Good times all round!"
