October 2-4, 2009

Hunter Mountain Ski Area

Hunter, NY

The 2009 event is being brought to you by the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America and Hunter Mountain Oktoberfest in conjunction with MAX BMW. Thanks also to our friends at BackRoads Magazine for their support and assistance. www.backroadsusa.com

All brands of motorcycles are welcome to attend. There will be something for everyone. We will have off road events, sport riding, sport touring, and touring rides set up for your self guided enjoyment. There will be a number of high quality motorcycle vendors on site in addition to the Oktoberfest vendors. Seminars will be offered on topics of interest to all motorcycle riders. On Friday and Saturday evening we will offer some excellent entertainment for your enjoyment after a full day of riding. There will be daily entertainment on site on Saturday and Sunday as part of the Oktoberfest activities. Chair lift rides will be available to the summit of Hunter Mountain for stunning views of the "Colors in the Catskills". You can even rent a mountain bike to take up the chair lift with you and then ride down Hunter as fast as you wish for a definite adrenaline rush!

We will be offering off road riding skills schools on Saturday and Sunday led by members of TEAM MAX of Pikes Peak and RallyMoto fame. Here is your chance to find out what that off road or dual sport bike is really capable of doing with some training. MAX BMW has also arranged for the BMW Demo Truck to be on site Saturday, 3 October, offering rides on the latest BMW models.

We will also offer the Lee Parks Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic all day Saturday. Come back and join us on Sunday to practice what you learned on the great roads all around Hunter.

Friday night we will be presenting Professor Louie and the Crowmatix for your listening and dancing pleasure inside the Main Lodge. Many of you might remember the fantastic shows Professor Louie gave us at the 99 and 06 National Rallies. It's a real honor to have them back!

Little Scotty and the Knockouts, a really hot Hudson Valley blues band, will knock your socks off with their high energy electric blues. The Knockouts during the mid-nineties were the stuff of legend and the reformation of the band, with their newest CD, Soul'd Out, look to carry that legend into the new century. Bandleader and front man Little Scotty's super-smooth voice and from-the-hip 'Chicago style' guitar chops, are the focal points of the band. The band has previously opened for the likes of Jeff Healy and B. B. King.

Come join us for a day or the entire weekend. Last year 2,500 riders joined us for some part of the weekend activities. Bring all your friends along to enjoy the "Colors in the Catskills". Stay on site, in nearby lodging or take advantage this year of the new "on site" camping offer.

Pre registration is not necessary. There is no pre registration even offered. There is no Rally fee!

IT'S FREE!!!

We hope to see you there. We have outlined some of the event highlights below. Keep checking back at www.bmwmoa.org or at www.huntermtn.com for additional offerings and updates.

CIC 2 On Road Training Activities

The Lee Parks "Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic" will be offered on Saturday, 4 October 2008, at Hudson Valley Community College from 8 am - 6 pm.

This course is based on the best selling book by National Champion Lee Parks. The course focuses on: effective cornering techniques, precise throttle control, throttle to brake transitions, line selection, body position, mental attitude and suspension adjustment.

In the body position portion of the class, you'll learn how simple physics affects your everyday riding. In the suspension portion, you'll learn how to analyze your settings and how to make adjustments for maximum control, comfort or both. In the riding portion, you'll work on one skill at a time, building confidence in small 2 mph increments until you achieve the desired level of ability. This training builds from your starting point, whatever it might be.

Hudson Valley Community will handle all registrations.

www.hvcc.edu/rider/#arc1, at 518-629-7339. Course questions can be directed to John Colandrea at 518-810-4923. Don't wait too long to register. The class is limited to a 12 student maximum.

We will also be presenting a demonstration of Police Motorcycle Officer Riding Skills on Saturday in front of the Main Lodge. The Officers will mostly be concentrating on low speed skills; coordinated clutch, throttle and brake control; and developing better balance skills. Wait till you see what these guys can do with their bikes. We will be offering these sessions on Saturday at 1000 and 1300. There will be a Q & A session with the Officers after each demonstration session.
