BMW Says Get Ready for 2012

With 2011 almost over, thoughts are turning to what 2012 has in store - and for BMW Motorrad riders and fans it promises to be an awesome 12 months. The brand will be attending some of the biggest motorcycle shows of the year, hosting the adrenaline-filled BMW Motorrad GS Trophy and organising the ever-popular BMW Motorrad Days event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. BMW Motorrad will also be at the BMW MOA National Rally in July. With so much already planned in for the forthcoming year, it's wise to make a note of some of the most crucial calendar dates as soon as possible.

Following the excitement of the annual New Season Start celebrations on March 24, one of the next big highlights for riders around Europe is the ultimate three-day celebration of all things BMW - the BMW Motorrad Days event in beautiful Garmisch-Partenkirchen. This year's party was the biggest to date, attracting more than 30,000 riders and enthusiasts to the Bavarian town, and July 6 - 8 2012 is gearing up to be just as impressive.

Whether you choose to take an organised tour from your home country or just head to the mountains for BMW Motorrad Days itself, the event promises to be an unbeatable combination of beautiful bikes, great roads, stunning scenery and hearty celebrations. From beer tents and tasty Bavarian fare, to ride-outs, demonstrations, product tents and film showings, BMW Motorrad Days truly has something to suit every motorcycling fan. Book your accommodation early to avoid disappointment.

Two weeks later all eyes turn to the BMW MOA 40th International Rally, held July 19 - 22 at the beautiful Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, MO. Entering the grounds will surely put a smile on your face as you view the acres of green grass and mature trees that highlight this 326 acres site. All five of the Exhibitor buildings, the Beer Garden building, Closing Ceremonies Arena, Seminar Rooms, and several of the restaurants on site are air conditioned. Cool air makes folks smile. The RV camping spaces have full service hook ups and all of the fairground roads are paved. And the music will be rockin'.

Also this 2012 will be the year's big motorcycling shows - Intermot, in Cologne, and Milan's EICMA. With Intermot scheduled for October 3 - 7 and EICMA's dates still to be confirmed for early in November, it will be a busy two months for BMW Motorrad. At this year's EICMA show, the brand took the opportunity to launch two stunning Maxi-Scooters - the C 600 Sport and C 650 GT. While riders will have to wait and see what next year will bring, one thing that can be guaranteed is that both shows will provide an opportunity to see some of the newest and most exciting products BMW Motorrad has to offer.

In addition to shows, parties and tours, 2012 will see the third BMW Motorrad GS Trophy, which will be held in South America this time. The biannual event was last held in southern Africa in 2010 and is an off-road biking challenge like no other. Participants undergo an exciting and challenging national selection process to have the chance to represent their country against the rest of the world. The talented qualifiers will then travel to South America at the end of November to battle for off-road glory against their fellow BMW enthusiasts on brand-new GS motorcycles. Whether watching from the trackside or following online, the adrenaline-fuelled competition will be a gripping instalment in the BMW Motorrad year.
