BMW Motorrad achieved its best quarterly sales figures to date in the first quarter of 2015. As of the end of March, sales were up 9.2% over Q1-2014 to 31,370, with just over half of those (15,912) sold in March alone.
Germany remains the strongest market (5,369 sold), with the USA (3,229), France (3,155), Italy (2,936) and Great Britain (1,746) rounding out the top five markets. Sales in Portugal and Spain rose 46% and 24% respectively, and Asian markets "developed very positively," according to a press release from BMW.
BMW Motorrad Head of Sales and Marketing Heiner Faust said, "We are reaching more and more customers all over the wworld with our highly emotional brand and our attractive, sporty bikes. We continue to remain on a course of growth and are aiming at surpassing the record results achieved in 2014 again."
The top-selling models remain the R 1200 GS and GS Adventure, combining for over a third of sales so far this year. The R 1200 RT sold 2,681 units, followed closely by the S 1000 RR (2,574).
