Moto Guzzi National Rally Disaster!

I just finished reading a message from a friend of mine that attended the Moto Guzzi National. The report was not good. Severe flash floods hit the rally sight which in turn washed away part of the camground.
Rally attendees that did stay lost everything they had with them including their motorcycles. Moto Guzzi lost all their demo bikes and semi-trailer.
The best news is that there was no loss of life. My heart goes out to our Moto Guzzi brethern.

Check out Wildguzzi.com. Photos of demo fleet, high water mark in headlight!,trailers in trees. Supposedly all are safe although some near hits(never could figure why they`re called near misses).

Sump Pump Watch

I now have a new duty in life; watching the sump pump. For two days in a row and over 8 inches of rain (still raining today), I have spent my spare time in the basement utility room offering words of encouragement to the pump. Generators are on standby in case I lose electric. Working in the home office is the order of the day. If the pump should fail, there goes the basement; gotta be a better way!?

We got off easy. My driveway looks like a mini grand canyon but we live to play another day.

This was an absolutely bewitching day in southern Minnesota.

Wow! That is where the Hiawatha Rally is. That could have been us, if it happened in June. I am glad for no loss of life.

Maybe we should send them a BMWMOA e-card:

"Sorry for your troubles, best wishes" or something.

That REALLY sucks, especially for their BIG rally. I know we've gotten wind/rain in the past, but nothing of THAT magnitude. Is Gillette on high ground?

That's such a shame for their losses. I am very glad no lives were lost.

Not a joking matter at all. What a nightmare for the riders and local community.
