Tomorrow, when I get on my bike at 8:00 AM, I'll wave. I live in central Illinois so that's why I'm telling you this. I don't want you to get a complex. So even if you do not see me, make sure to wave back. That's central time by the way.

Big Wave

Yes, I've noted there's a certain snobbery out there. I'll wave at anyone on two wheels because whatever it takes to get you out on the road is what it's all about. It's not what's between your legs...it's what's between your ears.

Here's waving at you with both hands...oops better keep my hands on the handlebars.

f650 acknowledgment

I ride a '03 650 Dakar and do notice that the harley guys are hit and miss about waving. I was waiting for the ferry in Prince Rupert one rainy morning at 4:00 am right behind a whole (what's the word? gaggle, hoard, mass, clan?) of Calgary Hells Angels. Really loud, loud music, yelling, etc. and no one paying the least attention to me until one guy sort of snuck over to me, leaned over and very quietly said "man, I've always wanted to get one of those," pointing at my bike. Oh, and the guy playing the music had to have his bike pushed off the ferry at Port Hardy because his battery was dead.

I ride a 2003 F650GS Dakar also, and I have found it to be rare enough to be a conversation piece.

I have been to BMW rallys where I have the only Dakar, though I nearly always see standard F650GS bikes. At the largest rally I have attended so far, I only saw one other Dakar.

A lot of people I run into on the road have never seen one in person before.
