It's time for a new pair of grips
I'm tired of the grips on my K75s. Will I need to look for 7/8 or 1 inch? Handlebar is stock. Thanks in advance.
Alf

They are two different sizes. One goes over the 7/8 bar (left side ) and the other goes over the throttle tube which is larger.
If you currently have the factory foam grips, I can see why you're tired of them. They suck! The best ones are identical to the heated type grips. They have ribs running the length of the grip and have a square end. From your BMW dealer: 32721237811 Handle Left $9.44 32721237812 Handle Right $9.44 ![]() ![]()

Thanks for the info. My desire to switch out the grips is based on the design of the throttle side one. Both left and right are ribbed and a beige sort of color. The throttle grip has a ridge, kind of a dorsal fin, that I don't care for. If the dealer sells these w/o the fin, well then I'm in business!
Please explain the purpose of this "fin" design that I find awkward. Many thanks... Alf

Those do not sound like any factory grips that I am aware of. Probably a PO had substituted with some aftermarket grips. Try the ones I suggested. I think you will be happy.

Lee, my local BMW store has a pair in stock that I will call for tomorrow. 12.99 each in designer black. I can't wait! I don't need to look for a beefier rubber pair of grips, becase my brick doesn't VIBRATE. I still am astounded by how SMOOTH this K75S is, it's magnificent!
Thanks again for helping me out. I'm grateful.....

That's odd. List price is $9.44 ea. I guess some dealers are on a list+30% basis.
![]() Our local dealers only charge list price. Chicago BMW is list-20%. ![]() ![]()

No doubt paying for convenience. No shipping tariff, no waiting. Nice grips for certain.

I've been running ProGrip 699 gel grips on my K100RS for many, many miles. I love these grips! So much so, that I now have them on all of my street bikes--including my vintage Vespa!
![]() They are a comfortable, tacky grip that still maintains grip even when the Minnesota temps dip well below freezing. Oh--they'll come in about HALF of what the BMW grips go for. Just my 2 cents. -K |

Twofastdogs, Hi I think I am going to try the 699 grips, do they come in the two sizes, for both sides of the bars? or does one side stretch? I have an 86 k100 . Do you have a recomended place to buy them?
Thanks Brian |

You might try getting them off in one piece - someone is likely to want them. EDIT: The wonders of Google.. found'm: http://www.harpermotoguzzi.com/handlebar_grips.htm I might just order a pair, loved them on my '74 Norton..

I am assuming the heating element is separate from the grip itself? the heat on the left side of my k1100RS pooped the bed.
![]() If I understand another thread I have to cut off the old grip to change out the heating element? Any aftermarket heating elements or am I stuck with BMW's expensive parts? Last edited by moondog; 11-07-2009 at 06:10 PM. |
