Growing up in the late 60's and early 70's, the fist bike that I ever drove was a Honda Trail 70 that belonged to a friend. I went off to Marine Corps Boot Camp in 1975, I tried to buy a Dodge Challenger when I finished Boot Camp but nobody would finance a 17 year old Marine Private. That really started my motorcycle history, I bought a Honda CB500/4, I had it six months and 12,000 miles and traded it for a CB750. Nine months and 20,000 miles latter I got transferred overseas. My dad sold the 750 for me while I was gone. When I returned I ran through a series of street/dirt bikes, Yamaha 400, Honda XL500, PE400 then I stopped riding for about 25 years. Not quite two years ago I got back into riding again again and bought my first BMW a 99 R1100RS, a year and a half and 27,000 miles later it was traded for my current R1200RT.

List:
1975 Honda CB500/4 traded for-
1976 Honda CB750 sold in 77 while overseas
1978 Yamaha Enduro 400 sold in 79
1982 Honda XL 500 sold in 84
1985 Suzuki PE 400 sold in 89
1989 - 2008 no motorcycle
2008 BMW 99 R1100RS traded for-
2009 BMW 07 R1200RT

Next, I would like to add a Goldwing Trike while keeping the RT

OK, here goes.
1989-First bike was a 1973 Honda CL350
1993-early '80's suzuki 4 stroke 250 dirt bike(POS)
1994-1982 Honda XL500R(the big red one)
1998-My dad gave me my first BMW which I still have 1975 R60/6
2000-realizing I need dual sport capabilities-1997 F650
2005-sold the F650 and bought the current ride 2001 R1150GS

What's next? I will always want the ability to ride off highway. I like the 800GS, but cost wise I can get a used KTM950 for a lot less.

"Intermission came from family, deployments, and finally the tragic death of a daughter at age 10 in 2004. When something like that happens, you just get back on, because you have been to the worst, and anything from there needs to be because you want to. Life can be gone tomorrow and you wouldn't have wanted to miss it. Our daughter lived every day like it was her last, and that was our lesson learned. Blessings to any and all who have been a part of the unnatural circumstances of being preceded by your child."(quote)

The greatest fear of a parent is the loss of a child. Maybe the riding is therapy. I wish you well.
