2002 k1200Rs/faulty abs servo motor

I was informed Saturday that the Servo motor on my ABS system isnt working by my local shop. Their fix is 2500.00. Anyone have any alternatives ?

Mine went out on my 2000 K12RS. Was told the clutch slaves had bitten the dust. Same quote for new unit plus labor. I sourced a used unit for about $450 as I recall and had the dealer install it while they were doing warranty work on their clutch/tranny input seal. I contemplated doing it myself, but since they would be doing their work and replacing the unit appeared to be very involved, it seemed I saved on labor. I certainly saved versus the quoted $1800 for a new unit. No problems since the install. Too long ago since I had this done to have any record of who I got it from. I think it was the guy in the New England area that does space age looking three wheelers in his Barn from K12 bikes.

thanks for the info....I started trying to run one down last night....havent found one yet, but I just started. Do you remember where the part is located on the bike? the shop never took any plastic off. The mechanic just hooked it up to the fault reader.

In looking at all the microfiche, I realized that we do not have the same system. Mine is pre-servo/integrated brakes. The site I looked at for info could not find the 'pressure modulator' by the part number the microfiche listed, but maybe realoem, etc can. The location for mine is about mid-calf of the rider's left leg, above the footpeg, sitting attached to the frame above the trans. Likely the same location for yours, but it appears to be a smaller unit, and they may have rearranged things.

has anyone experienced this? I didn't replace the alleged faulty servo motor but have been riding the bike. the brake failure light has quit flashing and the brakes are working perfectly. I have ridden over 200 miles in traffic since the problem. Does any one know if that servo works intermitintly before they go out or could it have been giving a false reeding after the brake pad change???????????

I'm having the same problem right now. Took it to the dealer, they hooked it up to the computer. Bad unit, $3k to replace. I started searching for a used unit, VERY hard to find.

Couple of weeks ago, thing started working again. Works fine for a couple of miles of braking, then cuts out on the rear. Front still works ok.

Don't know what to do.
