I finally saw someone riding one of those 3-wheeled Piaggio things yesterday. I waved, he didn't wave back.

Then I realized I was on my F650 and remembered this thread.

My F650CS has been called a scooter! I wasn't insulted. I just took a second look at the source.

I'm packing every BMW shirt I own for my trip out West this year for all my HD buddies to admire.

Question hand signs of the road

Thought this might be the place to post this. Yesterday while doing a very nice ride through the East Bay hills I passed a few bikes and exchanged waves of one sort or another. Was puzzled by one though, he patted his head as opposed to waving, pointing, saluting, etc. Is this a "keep the shiny side up" sign, or something more specific?

When I waive at motorcycles while in a car, my son shrinks like a wilting viloet next to me, then when it's passed exclaims what an embarrassment I am when I do that and then socks me one in the arm as punishment.

I get em back later when I'm not driving..

I have learned to curtail my waiving at 2 wheeled vehicles while in a car to save him the embarrassment, plus, no one ever waives back, and they probably do think I'm nuts!

As old as I am, who cares?

Just another old nutty geezer with pre-dementia symptoms; that pretty well chalks it up, I think!

Aha, that was another possibility that occurred to me, especially after I saw the patrol cars further on. Thanks much Crow18!

I've gotten that hand signal. And sure enough, police were just up the street.

I almost fainted on my bike today as another biker waved at me... I was shocked as this doesn't happen to much in town. I can't even remember the last time I had a biker wave at me while riding around town.

Back in the day, when police cars had big honkin' red lights on top, the tap on the MC helmet/lip was a signal that "the law" was hiding or patroling down the raod.

alright now this is getting rediculous, took a short ride after work today and in my travels i passed my daughter on her way to work in her car, she did not wave........i'm starting to get a complex.

i think it is the F650 so in the interest of science i will buy a used K75 and see if anyone waves to me. i don't want to buy another bike but i'll do it for everyone who read/responded to this thread. i'll get to the bottom of this even if takes buying several more bikes............

I promise I'll wave to you. You don't have to go out and buy another bike. (You can will me the K75. I really would like to have one).
