    Thumbs up

Nice bike, I would check ebay (not seen one lately), check the various BMW chat rooms, all the magazine ads... You may want to post it as a "wanted" item. Of course you can always order one new.... Nah.... to expensive.... but you get what you pay for in most cases....
Had a Russel on my Oilhead and loved it... Great seat.
    Keep the rubber side down!!

If you are going to do some serious distance or just be in the saddle all day it is worth the extra cost. The two main differences on mine versus OEM is 1) I can sit on it for the 320 mile gas range okay, 2) after filling up again I don't hesitate to get right back on and repeat. You may agree that a bad seat is not the most inviting to return to after the feeling of being neutered....lol

Difficult to find a decent one used. Check www.ibmwr.org/market and use the search function.

I totally lucked out with my Russell for my oilhead GS. Found a near-new leather one on the IBMWR Marketplace, front & rear sections + backrest for $400 (an $800 value). Snapped that puppy right up and 55K miles later, it is still in pretty darned good shape.

Now... mine wasn't custom-made for me, but it works very well.

You get what you pay for in a Russell.

Another point to consider on a used Russell saddle is that the saddles are truly made to an individual's weight, height seating position etc. When you order a new one you submit a questionaire and photos from a side view, and you mark the saddle by drawing around you toosh with a pen to indicate typical position.

This stuff does matter. After having a saddle made I changed out my footpegs for adjustables and mistakenly lowered them to max, and the difference was felt inside my legs...by raising the pegs back to the approximate position taken in the photo the problem went away. This did not dawn on me until I was trying to figure why my legs ached after a while on a seat this expensive. Just keep this in mind, you may be lucky to buy one from a person with the same proportions as you.
