    New Member from Pearland, TX

    Hi,
I am new member to the MOA as of yesterday.
I bought my first and only BMW almost a year ago, it's an 85 R80RT that looks like an R because the PO removed all the T items.
A good friend of mine, an MOA member in Tucson, encouraged me to make the purchase and to join the MOA.
He says that my BMW is completely different than any bike I have ever ridden before.
I have held an MC license since March of 1991, so 23 years and had various bikes through the years.
My interest is mostly in older, traditional, "UJM-style" motorcycles, so the R80 fits right in.
I am hoping to have it up and running (it is a complete bike that had been sitting for 3-4 years) sometime this summer and look
forward to the mechanical magic my Tucson friend claims the air-head is all about.
It's good to finally be here!

    Thanks,
    Jay W. George

Welcome Jay! Now you have us interested as to what your bike looks like...if have a chance, post a picture here and maybe also post it in the Airheads forum thread on post a pic.

Any questions, just ask! And watch out for those oil slicks!!

    Hello Jay;
Thanks for joining the MOA, you have become a member of a very large family!

You will find a lot of useful information here.

Sure would like to see a picture of that 85 R80RT, I'm a Airhead guy myself.

There are a lot of talented Airhead people in Texas as well as Arizona, good luck!

Welcome Jay, glad to have you as a member.

We are a typical family with loads of friendly folks and couple of old grouches.

Don't forget to post a pic of the progress on your bike. We love to drool over BMW's.

    Thanks for joining.
I used to post here, but now I don't.

    Thank you all!
    It's good to be here!
I have owned my bike for almost a year now and have done nothing with it, except look at it in the garage.
Soon I will have it on the road.
I will post a picture of it even sooner.

    Thank you!

Everyone is correct you have just joined a really big family.
I was adopted some 34 years, and close to 500,000 miles ago, and have loved every year of it.
I would advise starting a spreadsheet to collect your mileage, it will add up sooner then you think.
