Question Locking the GPS ont the new 2014 RT?

I have a friend who has ordered a new R1200 RT 2014 for the end of March. Of course, here in Montreal, we can't ride in winter, so, just to calm his impatience and for the fun of it, we drove down to our dealer, and went over the bike in the showroom with the salesman. We tried and played with every function and button, but to our great surprise, we couldn't find a way to lock the GPS in its cradle. Anybody knows if there is some secret way, or is this is a serious oversight from BMW? Thank you.

The windshield drops to the lowest position when power is off, locking the gps in place. Goes back to where it was when bike is started. Same system as K1600's.

I think we tried that as well, to no avail. But we will check again.

    Thank you.

You couldn't lock it in the earlier RTs either.

I've just ordered a 2014 RT and asked the BMW Rep (at the Phoenix Motorcycle Show) if the wind screen lowered like the GTL and locked the GPS in place. He said no, it did not. Instead, the instructions he gave me were to remove the GPS and lock it into the compartment on the left of the fairing. He said that's how it was desgined. There is a plastic piece the covers the wiring interface when the GPS isn't in use.

No. But I could because I had the locking Touratech cradle.

    No lock on 2014RT

Stopped at the dealers today to see the new RT and it DOES NOT have a way to lock the GPS in place. It has a different mounting system than the K1600gt. Hopefully the aftermarket will come up with a lock.

I only take mine off when leaving the bike for extended times. It is so intergrated it looks like part of the dash.
