Question Gutting a CAT, lambda sensor skip needed on leaded fuel?

I'm about to gut my CAT from R1100GS '98 (Motronic 2.2) that has lambda sensor in front exhaust (just about before the CAT unit). So i have a question - do i need to remove the Lambda sensor too, and readjust the Motronic from under the seat? If yes then how i should do it, what settings the CCP has then if to skip the KAT and Lambda?

Lambda sensor concerns me about using leaded fuel - it may get dirty'n'stuck and bike doesn't work OK then, right?

Does CAT removing cause any overheating issues? I.e. the exhaust runs more freely, thus engine breathes better, thus there's more heat circuling around(?)

    Thanks in advance, Margus

I just gutted the CAT from my OEM exhaust. You're right, better performance.

I tried running it closed loop (O2 connected) and it the same as always (surging under light throttle) so I went back to the Techlusion and surge free and very quiet.

I'm not sure what effect leaded fuel will have on the O2 sensor. I think I remember that leaded fuel will coat the sensor rendering it useless.

Consider a Techlusion and discover the consistancy of open loop operation.

I can vouch for the Techlusion open loop. E-Mail Roger at adventure-motorcycle.com, he is cheaper than Techlusion themselves and he will answer a world of questions...his knowledge convinced me to buy one and I think it really makes the oilhead run sweetly even with the factory cat on it. Whne the warranty expires I will remove the cat.

    Thanks
