A guy from my office and his wife are driving out to some of the national parks in Wyoming, Colorado, etc. This picture was in my Inbox this morning. The subject line was Badlands Beemers. Wonder if these two are on their way to Salem.

I feel compelled to point out the RS. I am sure there is an S just out of the picture frame...probably laden down with the group's cooking equipment and dirty laundry. S bikes make such great mules.

I'll have to figure out how to post pictures from my phone since I don't have a way to download them from my camera. I'll at least post some when I get back.

Someone I know is suffering the pangs of jealousy for those S riders who are going to the rally. This will only get worse as more pics are posted.

Footnote to the picture I posted earlier today. I received another email from my co-worker saying the riders of the BMWs pictured were German. Talk about a departure from their regular riding experience.

    Nice day on the S!

A little cool and overcast departing the Hood Canal zone, and it got darker and cooler heading south. Then passing by the east side of St Helen's volcano, skies cleared and temps went way up. Good food and a great brewski at Full Sail brew house in Hood River on the Columbia this evening. Now time for a wee dram and a pleasant sleep! Look out Salem, here I come!

Oh, stopped to watch the windsurfers and kiteboarders for a few minutes this afternoon. And people say that I'm crazy for riding a bike! LOL

Left Vancouver area first thing this morning. Took ferry over to Hood Canal on the Olympic Peninsula. Beautiful ride down to Mt. St. Helens and decided to take a run up the mountain. Simply spectacular. Arrived in Salem at around 6:00 cause we all know how blisteringly fast those Pacific Blue S's are.

Hopefully will run into a few of you at Registration on Thursday afternoon!

Took a BMW demo ride on the R1200GS water cooler this morning at the rally. That is one smooth boxer motor, I wish I could install it into my S frame.

For a good brew and bar food not far from the fairgrounds, try McMenamins Boons Treasury on Liberty. TouraTech and Butler Maps are here tonight too.

    Some good blues here tonight.

Anyone of those who attended the rally care to post stories, pictures, etc for those of us unable to make the trip?

What I did on my summer vacation:

I went to the rally. I volunteered at registration and met lots of fun folks. I met SeabeckS and K75S. We drank beer. I spent money. I attended seminars. I had a fun time even though I saw a lot of RS's. I didn't win anything because the contests were obviously rigged. (kidding)

Then I went on a meandering trip south which included California Hwy 299 from Interstate 5 to Hwy 101 - 120 miles of fun and entertainment. Then I rode home.

    The End

2nd pic, nobody knows what this is, and it gathered a lot of attention. Yes, that is a toiletry bin attached to the gas tank with tooth brushes and toothpaste.

    Rally Pics (Near the Rally)

The Howard Hughes Spruce Goose and an SR71 Blackbird. This is at the McMinnville Evergreen Aircraft and Space museum. There is a lot to see here. We were here just over 3 hours and not near enough time. Lots of people from the BMW rally here. http://www.evergreenmuseum.org
