Detroit - Calgary - Seatle - San Fransico - Los Angeles Summer Ride

Planning on leaving on my 1150RT at the end of June with 2 buddies. My 2 friends are riding to Anchorage and back (on their Harleys).
I'm spliting off at Banff to meet up with my wife in Seatle (have family there). Then ride 2 up the rest of the way.
Due to reality, I will have to ship the bike back due to work schedule (AKA lack of vacation days).

If anyone has any hints or tips for this route, my ears are open.

    I suppose...

....you two WILL BE joining all of us in Salem, OR at the Club Rally won't you? That alone, well...with a wine tour, will make your trip a success.

I have a suggested route for the Banff to Seattle portion if I were palnning that trip.

From Banff follow Hwy 1 - The Trans Canada Highway to Hwy 93
Take Hwy 93 to Radium (stop for a soak in the hot springs)
From Radium go to Golden on Hwy 95 and get back on Hwy 1
Follow Hwy 1 to Revelstoke and turn off onto Hwy 23 south
follow that to Nakusp (note there is a free ferry crossing midway)(Again, soak in the hot springs at Nakusp)
Take Hwy 6 across to Vernon (another free ferry on this route)
Take Hwy 97 to Kelowna (lots of wineries in this area and a couple micro-breweries, but only after your done riding)
From Kelowna head south on Hwy 33 to Rock Creek and Hwy 3 - the Crowsnest Highway
Head east and cross the border just before Grand Forks and follow US 21 to Republic WA
Alternate choice - head west to Osoyoos, then south across the border from there to Tonasket and US 20
Now take US 20 all the way to the coast just north of Seattle (Be sure to stop at Winthrop for the old west experience, and Diablo Dam is a neat stop too)

I can't wait to retire and have a fixed income. The one I have now is always broke.

Hmm. Thats a slightly different route I was planning. I'll have to look into that. Looks a bit more interesting.
My major problem is time constraints. I only have 2 days to get from Banff to Seatle.

The North Cascades Highway is definitely a pretty ride. Just make sure you don't miss the changes in speed limits as you near the little towns along the route on the the western end. DAMHIK
