Unfortunately it is a common failing to overestimate skill levels with the attendant results.
    Thanks for the kind words.

Hey - will be down in New Orleans as one stop on an extended motorcycle tour in mid-June, after the requisite stop at Lambert's Cafe in SE Missouri first, of course, the night before reaching "The Big Easy." Any advice for enjoying that fair city for about 36 hours?

I've been to N'awlins a bunch of times, all for work in south central LA. Bourbon Street is always good, entertaining, tasty, tacky all at the same time. Preservation Hall is a classic, and so are Hurricanes from some of the bars.

I have travelled a lot of south central LA, Raceland, Vacherie (great plantation house tour there, get the mint julip drink for the veranda), swamp tour just north of Thibodaux (operator is an old local cajun), Thibodaux is a great little town (been there so much they made me an "honorary cajun", made coonass years later). Houma, gotta go for the food at Big Al's. HWY 1 from I10 west through Raceland along the bayou to Thibodaux is interesting. All of these stops are within 1.5 hours of N'awlins, to the southeast about 60 miles.

Oh, stop for lunch at Bubba's on da Bayou in Thibodaux. I always get the crawfish ettouffe over dirty rice, with the carrot souffle desert. Yow! Look out the back window over the bayou an see da gators, no kidding, right in the middle of town. All in the heart of sugar cane country. This time of year the cane will be very short. Stop by John Deere (always is Cameco to me) just north of Thibodaux to see the sugar cane harvestors. Strange looking machines designed and developed right in Thibodaux. Lots of great people wit de attitude, "we gonn pass us a GOOD time!"

Now,..don get me started on my Boudreaux an Thibodaux jokes!

I rode for several years when I was in my twenties and started up again In 2007 at the age 66 . My skill level will never be as good as I once thought it was

I now have to account for slower reflexes

However I may be a safer rider and am lucky to have Friends I ride with that are very skilled so I'm learning

Yep.. Let me know dates and I can make a bunch of suggestions, and show you some of the better rides in the area. One thing to not miss is the National WWII Museum. There are lots of really nice exhibits there, and there is a new presentation about the submarine TANG that just opened which should be a great show.

When you come down, I can pick you up on the north shore and bring you around into the city via a couple of possible routes and show you some neat stuff in the area off the interstates.

I will send you a PM with my contact information.
