How much previous motocamping have you done?

Hey Downs,

I have done a lot of Moto Camping. Camped as we rode cross-country and on our trip to Newfoundland. Have good gear, not sure if we have all the gear we would need for Alaska though.

If you hit wet times up to Prudhoe you will want to have at least some sort of aggressive type of tire to deal with the slippery calcium "snot". We used Heideneu K60 and they worked well for bboth highway and gravel. They are a bit noisy at certain speeds but they stick in the wet and wear well. I had over 25,000 km (15,000 miles) on mine when I changed it.

Yes I actually traded out the rear at 20,000k because I got a deal on a tire at Pacific Motorsports, but I am still running the front with 25,000 on it. I am sure I could have easily got another 5k out of the rear. That 20,000 includes a lot of gravel roads including the up and back of the Dempster.

Will likely switch the front in the spring. My friend on his 1200GS is still running one with 25,000 on the rear but I would not be taking that tire anywhere risky now.
