Need vin number information

Can anyone help with identifying vin number 4971227.

It appears to be a 1975 BMW R 90/6.

This bike has a lot of later years parts on it, so identification is a struggle..

The owner has had a stroke and is of no help with titles or registration information.

Typing in the VIN says it is an October 1975 R90/6. This makes it a 1976 model.
