These two parts make a clamp that fits perfectly around the frame. You just need a proper length nut and bolt to attach the front mount hole of the Browns side stand and the header pipe hanger together to the clamp.

This set up supports everything from the frame the way it should and does not stress the pipe hanger.
Those look like the clamps from a BMW cylinder guard bar mount, right?

Clean look front mount for Browns sidestand on '82 R100RS

    Good eye!
I ran the BMW part number (46 71 2 302 080) for the lower half through the advanced part find on the MaxBMW fiche and yeah, it is part of the clamp for the "safety bar" on a LOT of models.

I like this mount idea for 4 reasons:
    - Works a treat to mount the front hole of the Browns stand in a very solid fashion.
    - Has a clean look using OEM parts meant to clamp onto our bike's frames.
    - Relatively inexpensive bolt on solution.
    - No cutting, filing or drilling required. It just fits.

Couple of photos here if interested:

I like it too. It was a bear drilling the extra hole when all you have is a hand drill and a bunch of dull drills. That is what I was looking for when I modified mine, but never though of those clamps. Good idea, thanks.

Oh, wonder if it would work on a GS, I'm looking at a 95 GS at Gateway BMW. Looks very clean, would look better in my garage.

Can't see why it wouldn't fit. MaxBMW parts fiche says it fits the 90 to 95 R100 GS PD safety bar. Those frames are all the same diameter methinks.
