Is this a factory stamp to give clearance to the steering head lock or did prior owner somehow manage to dent the inside of this thing? The dimples almost look like a factory stamping die but??
At $125 for a replacement I'm hoping its a factory thing.

just saw your post so went out to the garage and checked my 74 R90/6 and it has a similar indentation on the port side so it must be factory made.
