    But, I would have never guessed that those John Deere utility carts (Gators?) would become standard equipment for many deer hunters.

    Not likely. It is not a diesel. The US military has gone to great lengths to standardize everything to use diesel fuel. Maintaining a supply line for gasoline as well as diesel is a problem they have no desire to have.
