Glad to answer any questions about my grips!

Couple MOA buddies of mine asked that I post here to give members a chance to ask questions about my new neoprene Original Beemer Buddies. Not sure how to start a dialogue, except to say that no question is a bad question, and I'm happy to say hi and be available for questions.

I have a set of these on my RS. They are just right for adding a bit more diameter, damping vibes, and the heated grips work fine. Great product.

Question/Answer example on my invention from another forum

    Question from Forum member
Quote from: XXXXXXX on Today at 11:49:29 AM

"Hi Dave (again). Another question for you on your invention, and sorry if I missed this in one of the reports from your users.

How grippy are these? I am beginning to suspect part of the pain in my right hand and wrist is from over-gripping when I am wearing my gloves. Would you consider the surface of the OGB's to be "grippy"?

    Thanks for the additional information!"

    XXXXXXX-

    My Response

Sorry if I haven't previously made this information clear: My invention is covered with an "embossed rubber skin" vulcanized to the neoprene, (the neoprene making up the majority of the grip material) along with the UBL (unbroken Loop) backing. It is this rubber skin which comes in contact with the driver of the machine. I selected this material because (regardless of moist weather conditions) this surface stays "grippy" and promotes operator control of the machine, and continuous comfortable contact (through this "grippiness") with the operator of the motorcycle.

Another aspect to my answer about your "death grip" on your OEM rubber grips is that my invention, along with giving you relief from this discomfort, may (in fact) allow you to be less distracted (due to this feeling of discomfort and the resulting degradation of your ability to control your machine) and afford you the opportunity to enjoy your machine and allow you to focus on using your best safety techniques (example: improved "rider radar" like what we teach in our motorcycle safety class), which could ultimately save your life.

This last has not been proved in a scientific study, but seems to come up often (and constantly) in the real-world anecdotal comments of users of my invention.

I hope this answers your good question.

    Best,

    Dave R.

P.S. it seems I come by my scientific credentials honestly with regard to working with Neoprene bonded to the rubber skin of my invention, as my Uncle (John Fennebresque) was one of the scientists responsible for the invention of the vulcanization of rubber process in the 20th century.

    Thumbs up Beemer Buddies

I ordered a set of Beemer Buddies just before a two thousand mile trip on my R1150RT. They worked very well. I have large hands and the original grips are small for my hand size. I found that I was able to maintain a looser grip that helped with hand fatigue. (I needed carpel tunnel surgery after my first trip on the RT). This was probably an ongoing issue long before the trip.

I ordered the set the week before the trip and I received them on the Saturday before leaving on Monday. I can't say enough for the product or the service I received. This made the trip much more comfortable. The installation was simple (even for me). I would recommend this product for those that have large hands. It certainly helped in my case.
I don't have any vested interest in this company. I just like their product.

I'm about to update my review of the Grip Buddies on my blog. I rated them fairly good but the left hand side took a beating after my 4,400 tour. I'll take pictures this weekend and post on the review page.

They do add width to the grips (the reason I got them).

A tubular seamless version would be awesome. I like mine but would LOVE them if there was no seam.

I put the Buddies on my ST before going on a recent road trip. Initially, I had a couple of new pressure points with my "old" gloves, but they went away after a few hours. The Buddies seem to reduce handlebar buzz, and my hands no longer numb out.

I initially installed the Buddies with the seam at fingertip level, as per the instructions, but later changed the grip on the throttle side so that the seam was directly underneath the crook of my thumb, as there was a pressure point there.

For 20 bucks I would encourage anyone to give these a try.

I think you should try our new SUPER SHARKSKINS before you conclude your analysis of the Original Beemer Buddies/Original Grip Buddies. The neoprene of the new model is denser, more durable, and longer lasting. They are identical in appearance, but the feel is substantially different.

Please call me and I will fix you up with a new set to try.

How do they work with tapered grips?
