I think we've all felt that way at some point. Hang in there. Today is a new day and I hope it's a good one for you.

No, but I've had designers and other so-called experts insist on doing it their way, only to have it all go bad. I hate it when that happens.

I've had days so bad that I figured I must be a masochist to be doing this.
The good days far outnumber the bad ones though.
When I'm having a rare bad one, I try to think of the many good ones.

The day I shut down production in a paper mill with a "small" chemical experiment we were running to help improve production.

Dude, you just got that job.......hook up with somebody that is in the know who can help you navigate the organization 's culture. You are more likely to mess up culturally than you are technically. The key to a successful on boarding in an organization is to find someone that has been there a while who you can test ideas with. I am happy to offer my services as a trained executive and life coach and human resources professional........I might be able to help you in mastering the on boarding and no I am not looking to charge. I do this professionally within my organization and happy to help.

Thats right! Those that state, for e.g., that they don't have the "patience" to do something are among the group unwilling to fail. If the effort is worthwhile, so is the the experience.

    Joe,
And the best (baseball) hitters get a hit about one out of three times.

Bad days are no fun, but tomorrow's a new day.

All great advice and encouragement for him, but an employer is not going to be as understanding. He needs to find out where he went wrong and make adjustments. Some employers will cut him in his first 90 days for no cause or for any cause if he does not master the cultural rapids of the organization. Culture will trump subject matter expertise any day of the week. Master the culture.

I was removing the dead battery from my '93 Audi 90 last night. The hose from the radiator to the overflow reservoir runs over the edge of the battery. I had to lift the hose out of the way so I could wiggle the battery out from under the overhang of the left fender. Well, the hose came off the radiator and upon closer inspection I noticed that the plastic spout had broken off the top tank!

Now I have to replace the radiator! It's only time and money, right?
