Output shaft on 02 R1150 RT

I have a gear oil leak where the seal meets the output shaft, it at the shop right now they are saying that the seal is not seating right on the output shaft, they just put a new seal last year when I had work done last year on the clutch and spline maintence and I noticed it was leaking going out to Sedalia. They said they have never seen this before ( of cource only on my bike) that there should be something on the output shaft for the seal to seat against. any ideas? they said the tranny looks good should i just replace the output shaft?

What shop?

If they replaced this seal a year ago it should be covered under BMW's replacement parts warranty.

I assume this is a transmission output shaft seal and not an engine seal or final drive seal. Seals seal against the shaft.

And no you don't want to just buy an output shaft, which will cost you north of $2,000 before you are done.

It is at second wind in Milton nh it is the transmission out put shaft the have replaced it under warranty just before I left for Sedalia because I noticed I had a small amour of gear oil in the boot by the rear tire and then while driving to Sedalia it started leaking again the said the seal is not seating correctly they double checked the seal and tool to make sure they where the right ones now they have taken photos and sent them to BMW could I have a bad output saft I have over 55000 miles bought the bike with 260000 and have kept up with maintience and have never seen this leek until recently
