BMW riders are snobs? Maybe.
But I do know this:
I'm a habitual waver. I'll even wave at scooters - heck, if the rider is crazy enough to take a 50cc two wheeler out into rush hour traffic they deserve acknowledgement. Those who don't wave back invariably are on Harleys - usually with ape hangers, no windshield and a DOT beanie helmet.
So who's the snob?
I do confess that I take an inordinate amount of pleasure from passing their loud pipe a$$e$ when I come up on them from behind - which, I admit, is a form of snobbery.
But --- I always wave as I whip by.

Ride on ~ Far out
Wow, you just described me. I wave at scooters. Those dudes are nuts and deserve the wave. I wave at cyclists too, since I ride.
And I always love to increase my speed and pass a pack of cruisers (any brand). The bigger the group the better, just thread my needle through the group and I'm gone.
I don't think that makes me a snob, but perhaps a gigantic A-hole...but I'm OK with that!

My 5 beemers and 1 bimmer all suck and I once got a saucy PM here saying that some guy could buy all my bikes with the change he finds in his couch.
So, I'm free from the yuppie stigma! Whew!![]()

Integrity is what you do when no one is looking.

I hate it when people use the beemer and bimmer incorrectly.
I had a local radio station talking about taking cars for a test ride for a fundraiser referring them as Beemers. When I heard that, I called the DJ up on the phone and proceeded to correct him about beemers not being cars but motorcycles and cars are called bimmers not beemers and he needs to know what he is talking about before airing on the radio.... the DJ was so ignorant he cussed me out and hung up on me. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper.
Bye bye 2006 F650 GS for a 2011 F650 GS.
[QUOTE=RoboRider;809808]I think the snob myth (and it is a myth) centers around cost. BMWs are pricey, and you immediately assume things about someone who can afford one. Just like a guy who drives up in a Ferrari. You have certain opinions about him that might not be correct.
I don't know... You'll pay as much for a Harley EVO bagger as you will for a beemer, so I don't think it is so much about economics as it is about the type of personality riding....
See my post #16.

I don't bother with names or what to call this or that.
That is SO droll, dearie.

Be The Change You Want To See In The World
Just because my new 1600 GTL comes standard with ABS, Dynamic Traction Control, three riding modes, adaptable headlight, Serius radio, push-button suspension control, heated everything, tire pressure monitoring, adjustable windscreen that automatically returns to your preferred level when you start moving, enough luggage space for a trip to mars, rocket-like acceleration, a smooth as glass engine, and is better than any other motorcycle on the planet ... is no reason to think I'm a snob. The weak horn and the clunky shifting keeps me humble.
My next step is to install a Stebel air horn. I can live with the clunk.
