07 f650gs keeps blowing 14A fuse, killing engine

20+ minutes into the ride on a very warm day with a passenger on back, and the fuse blows without any warning. It kills the engine, I put in a new fuse and ride home. It just started doing this. After the first time, I took it to the dealer and they checked it out an said everything looks good, no outstanding recalls, etc. I only have 11k miles on the bike. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks!

Usually short circuits blow fuses. (Wiring) Occasionally a faulty device will try to draw too much current and blow a fuse (eg; fuel pump).

So which fuse? What devices are on that fuse? Is the wiring to those devices pinched, etc.

OOPS! It is a 15 amp fuse (NOT 14 - sorry about that). It is in position 1. I do not know what is on that fuse. The dealer says he checked the wiring.

If you have your manual, it will tell you which fuses are for which.
    Bye bye 2006 F650 GS for a 2011 F650 GS.

People laugh when I tell them that electrical problems are the easiest problems to fix. It is a rare electrical problem I can't fix in five minutes.

Now, finding that electrical problem can be a different matter - sometimes several hours.

So a dealer that wiggled a wire or two and claimed to "check the wiring" fails to ring my bell. If fuses are blowing there is a reason. I'd look for an overtight wire tie up by the steering head on the main harness. Then I'd get out a schematic and wiggle everything I could trying to make the fuse blow.

Lee - it has happened twice - each of the last two times I rode it. I have never had any trouble at all in the past.

I found a friend to help me, he is also a BMW rider but he is more knowledgeable than I am. Anybody know where I can get a manual or wiring diagram on short order? Are there any wiring diagrams on-line? Thanks!!

Good news! I went over to my friend's house this morning and it did not take him long to identify the cooling fan as suspect. And as if that were not enough, he even gave me a loaner bike until I can get the part and come back to install it.

First post 1 hour after initial post and Paul had the answer (for me eg: Fuel pump is as good as eg: Cooling fan). Never doubted him... Just always impressed.
Thank you sir, you have helped me directly/indirectly before. More times than I can remember...
