    2010 BMW R1200GS experience

I have a 1989 R100GS very well maintained and runs great.
Last weekend my son rented a 2010 R1200GS for the day from GoAZ cycles in Scottsdale. AZ.

I rode it and was surprized by the torque and low gearing. Was able to do Wheelies in 1st and 2nd gear. Not brake light touching wheelies but just lifting the front wheel off the ground 8 to 10 inches just blipping the throttle. Very controlable and fun.

Just wanted to relate the experience very nice bike I just have to keep a bike with no monthly payments!!

Let's see maybe in 2029 I will be able to get one!!!

    Keep what you've got

My take is, keep what you've got. Your bikes are fun, bulletproof, and you can work on them yourself. When the wheelie craze gets uncontrollable, rent a 1200 for a few hours.
In the meantime, take some of the $$$$ you'd spend on a 1200 GS and take your wife on a great vacation, or to a few great dinners at Binkley's in Cave Creek. Forget keeping up with the Joneses, love what you have.
