Looking for cave diver and riding 'Buddy'..

This is a stab in the dark request..but I'm in the planning stages of riding to the Yucatan's famous Cenotes (Spanish wells)this Fall time frame..I'm looking for someone with similar experience and expertise in this rather unique form of sport of scuba diving...Adventure rider, full cave cert. and speaks Spanish. Anyone out there with similar background? If so..lets talk.

Might serve you better to post over on www.cavediver.net and start with cave divers that might ride and speak Spanish. Seems like it would be a bigger universe over there and improved chances of finding someone versus finding a motorcyclist that happens to cave dive and spek spanish. Good luck.

Good luck on your dives there. Local bike shop owner and buddy died in those systems about 10 years ago so be careful! I've done a bit of cave diving but found that I didn't like it when a buddy accidentally kicked up silt. . That and the line work jus took away from some of the relaxation for me. (still penetrate wrecks when the opportunity arises. )

I've only logged 225 dives so not as experienced as the guys who leave near the better destinations.

4 in my family go deep No cavers though. Interesting post. We dove recently in the springs of Florida(Winter), some mini caves, noth'in serious. Some of those Tarpon were HUGE and too friendly. Just made it out of Live Oak and Peacock Springs,Fla. during the week of T/S 'Debbie'. Locals prior where complaining about how low the water levels where..now complaining about too much water..

Riding my GS/A on I-10 around I-75 proved it's worth as I had to circumnavigate the beginnings of the sink hole that later developed causing I-10 to be eventually closed for about a week.

I've dove a couple of Yucatan's Cenotes a couple of months ago..I found them much more attractive then N. Fla's caves.

Driving a rental car from Cancun down to Tulum, about 80 miles, was a challenge in it's self.. Speed limits and local traffic seemed to contradict one another..only time the locals would slow down was when approaching their famous Topes(speed bumps) manned by UZI armed police on both sides of the roads. Eye opening to say the least.

I think this trip will be one of the ultimates at least for me..visit some more of Yucatan's Cenote's and some of the Mayan ruins..It's especially important being the fact/fiction that 2012 is predicted to be the end of the world as the Mayan's have noted..We'll see:>

I found the town of Tulum to be a great central point to work from..much less expensive then staying in Cancun's high tourist hotel district..easy access to several Mayan ruins and access to a dozen or more Cenotes..

You are correct Cave Diving is an extremely dangerous sport... Don't do it unless properly trained and equipped..

...but I have been diving in the Dos Ojos cenotes. On a diving trip to Cozumel a few years back, we hired a guide who took us ina several hundred feet. I have never seen water so clear...or blackness so thick. We never got deeper than about 50 feet and only about 1000 feet into the cave, never leaving lined routes. Still pretty cool and unique diving experience.


Just how are you hauling your dive rig on two wheels? I don't think you are going to find a dive shop at the cave mouth renting gear and filling tanks...

The Dive shop that I rent tanks and acquire NITROX from is only about 15 mins from these Cenotes in Telum..

I pack all my dive gear, less tanks, on my GS/A..as I have done on my previous half dozen trips to the Springs in N. Fla. this past year...
