    R1200RT horn button with radio

Anyone else have trouble reaching the horn button with clutch pulled in on the R1200RT with radio knob on the grip? Is it just me? I had my wife try it and she couldn't either. When I'm in bumper to bumper traffic, often enough, someone will inevitably wander over in my lane and, with my '10 RT (which didn't have a radio) it was no problem to beep the horn as I inched forward after having accelerated slightly and coasted a bit with the clutch in. If I hold my elbow way in to my side, I can just barely activate (touch) the horn. It looks as if I am going to have to glue an extension on to my horn button in order to reach it. I'm really surprised at this design. For those of you who wonder why my clutch would be pulled in, well that's just the time that the cagers start to wander over. Just chance, I guess...

I am less than pleased with the horn button layout too. The horn should be something you could activate almost without thinking about it. Post pics of you modify the button.

I went to the dealer and he was demonstrating (with glove on) the ease at which he could operate the horn button with glove on. Now, I'm convinced that the problem I'm having is lack of movement concerning my thumb from an injury a couple of years ago. I will have to work at this "reach" and continue to improve the movement of my thumb. If that doesn't work, then I will glue something on the button.

No problem reaching the horn button for me, clutch in or out. I have the radio as well.

Joe - this might be a post where the year of your RT would be very useful info, since BMW changed the hang control design (starting in 2011? or was it 2010 on the RT?)

My 2010 RT did not have the radio, so no problem. My 2011 RT with the radio has the volume control knob that my thumb has to get around. With the clutch pulled in, it's hard for me to reach the knob.
