    AMA Vintage days

Any going to Vintage days, and maybe having a booth? I been there a few times, I seen some deals on Airhead stuff, and some prices I can image anyone getting for a top case. or other parts.

I not a vender just curious, I believe Re-Pyscal is always there, and a few other shops.

My riding buddy & I have gone every year since it started, the parking lot show alone, is worth the cost of admission. And the almost constant stream of motorcycles in and out is something too see in itself.

I heard [i think] two years ago ? that it was officially the largest motorcycle swap meet in the world! Now said to be over 35 acres of vendors.

I have been going there too, every year, since it has been at Mid-Ohio for the first time in 1995.
I am involved with another motorcycle club and hang with their activities (ICOA -Int'l CBX Owner's Assoc) I still may bring my R100S.
Stop by at the Honda Pavillon (outside the Carousel) for a chat and a "cold one".
Unfortunately, BMW stuff in the swap meet is rare. I have seen Re-Psycle and the "Bolt Guy" in the past. Two or three other vendors with /2 and /5,/6,/7 parts and memorabilia. Usually outrageously expensive for swap meet standards.
Example was center stand for my /7 I have been looking for. Everything anybody had, had the little lever broken off and they still wanted more than $80.-
Still, if you are interested in motorcycles beyond spooling the odometer, this meeting is a must if you live East of the Mississippi. People come from further away.

Elsewhere I complained about the MOA not being able to schedule their National Rally on a different weekend, knowing that AMA VMD is always on the 3rd weekend in July. Did not find much friendly support. Considering the direction the mainstream BMW ownership and the MOA is taking, I should not have been surprised.

That is the reason, I've never attended the MOA National.

FYI....Vintage Days, was originally called Heritage Homecoming, and was held on OSU campus grounds at Athens.

It's not that the MOA cannot do it. I attended Lima, Johnson City, West Bend and Essex Junction. The dates for these rallies were all at a different weekend from VMD.

Thanks for the info about the VMD history. That tidbit was new to me. I only knew the event was in Westerville before they moved it to Mid Ohio.

Yeah, the Wauseon, Ohio AMCA (Antique Motorcycle Club of America) Midwest National Meet is usually 3rd weekend of July, as well. I'll be there. They've been having more and more old BMW stuff as of late. I was at Bloomsburg last year. I switch every year, one or the other.

I hope someday the dates won't conflict, and i can attend a national.

VMD has just become such a tradition , hate to break it. My buddy's two sons are now into motorcycles, and they go along, and a grandson is getting interested. We make a weekend out of it. One other guy,Joe & i are the two Beemers...the other guys are all Honda folk.....but we don't hold that against them....

I'm thinking of going out this summer, still on the fence tho... depends on work, really.

I like the Mid-Ohio scene, and usually hang out there and camp with some Brit Bike friends at the [un]official HQ of Britbike.com... I've been a few times and I recall seeing some amount of airhead stuff on sale from bikes (mostly) to bits. Nathan Mende (Boxerworks, of Georgia) is usually on hand and he's an accessible guy who is easy to both recognize and talk to. The road/track racing has fallen off since there was a fallout with the vintage racing foundation. Because of that single issue, so many of my friends in the brit bike community chose not to go any more... BUT it's a fantastic weekend of bikes, bikes, and more bikes... and then even MORE bikes.

If you are into vintage motorcycles AT ALL, this event is a REALLY good one.
You really ought to treat yourself and go. In the middle-to- eastern USA, the only thing that comes anywhere near close is Barber. Barber's Vintage weekend in October differs in a couple significant ways (depending on your likes/needs/views on the matter)- Barber's track is better, and the vintage racing is stronger, AND they have that uber-cool museum.

AMA Vintage Days at Mid Ohio dwarfs Barber in every way tho, in spite of Barber having a couple key things up on it.

If you go, you can get to the AMA museum in Columbus. It's only an hour or so from Lexington, Oh

They will have the flat track races in Wauseon on Friday at the AMCA meet...I wonder if that's where they went after the fallout at AMA Vintage days?

I've been to both events over the years and the problem is there is only one hottest weekend of the year, so they have to share it.
