We'll miss you two! Stay cool.

I've never had the heart to add up all the costs but Paul did a pretty good summary article for the Owners News. On our website:

Whatever the cost, I'm sure the payback was tenfold.

On the way to son Mike's house in Kansas we stopped off to see long time friend Mel Smith who lives in Adrian, MO. He had some sweet peach tea for us, and stories, as well as a tour of his place and his eclectic neighbor's. Pictures here:

Off to Iowa and grandboys tomorrow. Joining Sister Rebecca and BIL Al along the way.

I'll definitely be at Sipapu, but Paul has other plans as you'll see below . . .

    GREETINGS FROM IOWA

We last reported our whereabouts with a link to pictures taken at the BMW MOA annual rally in Sedalia, Missouri and our visit with Mel Smith. Since then we stopped in Lawrence, Kansas to see Mike and ventured north to Ankeny just long enough to collect our grandboys Noah and Brody and to haul them (by car) to greater metropolitan St. Louis. We visited Voni's sister Rebecca and husband Al for a couple of days. The highlight was a visit at the Magic House, a St. Louis science center for kids. We wished we had brought ear plugs though, as several throngs in matching shirts from area summer group camps were wildly roaming throughout, trying the patience of their somber youthful guides. Voni especially liked climbing Jack's Beanstock which rose from the basement to the second floor.

With little motorcycle content to actually report we decided to foretell a bit of the future for you.

We have settled back into the "resort" at Ankeny engaged in preparation and resupply for our next northern adventure. We plan to depart here and head indirectly to Nakusp, British Columbia for a rally mid-August. Along the way we will stop to see Voni's Minnesota sisters, Karen and Sylvia, along with assorted other kin who happen by. From the Minneapolis area we will head to Bismark, North Dakota to touch base with the North Dakota branch of the family tree. Then onward to Nakusp at no particular pace with camping and wonderful roads to ride.

We plan that when we leave British Columbia we will venture to California. Yes, as unbelievable as it seems Paul has agreed to go to California; urban California, even. He will spend the better part of September as a crew member/mechanic for friend Darryl Richmond who is riding his 1928 BMW R52 from Newburgh, New York to San Francisco in the 2012 antique motorcycle Cannonball Run. Paul will leave Santa Cruz and return to San Francisco in a Sprinter van, hauling the bike to New York, and parts and tools along the way back to California. Meanwhile, Voni has a rally to attend in New Mexico and a trip back to Kansas and Iowa planned. Somewhere in there, probably before the Cannonball trip, we hope to visit Voni's cousin Paul Hathaway in the SF Bay area, details to be determined.

Tonight we took the boys for a twilight ride. Our most precious cargo always. As usual, they LOVED it!
