    85 R80RT rear brake change

Can anyone confirm that the brakes in this link are what I need for a brake change?

    http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...0RT-Parts.aspx

The dealer's parts fitch show a "kit" for the rear brakes. What's all in the kit that I would need other than the brakes?

Obviously this is my first attempt at rear brake replacement.

Thanks for all and any helpful info.

Hey Jer, the kit will contain a new spring and the "absorber" that fits around the spring, as well as new shoes according to this:

Do you know when the brakes were done last? Does the spring and absorber look really old? It's an easy job, toughest part is refitting the absorber.

How many miles on the brake shoes?

    Are they contaminated with oil?

How thick is the material that is left?

I have 503,000 miles on my 1977 R100RS and I have the origional back brake shoes.

    Why are you changing them?

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree and just need to adjust the brake lever. With 40k on the bike, the indicator on the hub has moved to the outside mark. I thought that meant the pads were worn.

    Thanks again,
