    Ignition Switch terminals

I had my head bearing repaired by Grand Rapids BMW, well to make a long story short, do not take a bike to them.
It seems the tattoo 'tech' most of removed the fairing ( he screwed everything he did up) I had to take it back the day after picking it up because I noticed the damper was install upside down. I was riding the next weekend and the fairing started to wobble. I took it back, and another tech "fixed it". This work was done in the fall. 3 trips back and all I got was a long wait each time, the service manager acted like they already had my money and I should go away.

Well last month, it started to wobble again, and this time it was not going back to them. I found when I removed the fairing, there was a 16 mm long 8 x1 bolt laying in the bracket (other bolt was gone). This bolt was stripped, and so was the thread in the frame. I managed to fixed them with a heli-coil (yep a I know, but it worked).

When I was making a map of the wiring on the ignition switch I only noted 4 wires, and now I see there are 5 terminals. Is one open? or did I miss one? If you ever worked on a bike 4 months after having you back fused, you will understand why I may of missed something.

I'm not personally familiar with this bike, but the diagram shows only four (4) terminals...

what wire colors are you dealing with?

    Been to diagram

    This '84 100RT is a little different.

Bike had factory heated grips, and it has two fuses above the gauges that were hard wired no connectors (there are now). When I got the bike there were NO fused in the headlight. I guess the added fuses replaced the in the headlight fuses.

I see the four wires on the diagram, but why a empty terminal? It a issue for me to bend and work on the wires. I think I got everything connected, as I labeled every wire I removed, and I don't remember seeing 5 wires on ignition switch.

Still some things are not working right. I look in headlight tomorrow, and see if something is off a terminal in the head. I guess I am ready for a newer bike.
Maybe a R1200CL would be the replacement for this Airhead.
