It's nice to see someone take such care at describing what they did. Much appreciated by those of us attempting to stand on the shoulders of giants. I'm getting ready to do the same task with my 2006 RT. Any differences that you might be aware of? Thanks.

I did my 2009 RT shift and brake levers a couple of years ago and the procedure was exactly the same. Your 2006 should be identical.

The brake pedal freeplay should be set for about 3/8"; at least that was what my factory setting was.

But...the very thought of me being some sort of giant mechanic gave me a great morning giggle over coffee.

Glad someone else helped with the older model info. The 2011 is my first BMW, and likely my last bike. It is a great bike.

Do let us know how your experience was.
