I can't go to the rally either.

With my luck I'll probably end up just winning one of the bikes or some other stupid prize worth over $1,000. Crap!

You know the old saying:"I'd rather be lucky than good". Well, I must be pretty lucky, because I KNOW I'm not that good!

(if you win) You'll still get the cash, you just won't be able to spend it at the rally.

No, I am not implying that.

The rules are pretty clear, this is members only until just ahead of the rally, if there are any tickets left.

Until that point, we'll check the social interaction against the member database.

And, fwiw, the social part of this is for fun and there are qualitative aspects to the selection of winners. The decisions of the judges are final... and all that.

That's good. Thanks for clearing that up Ian.

Okay. My mistake. I thought the rally ticket was $65. I see that it is only around $35. So sell me a sweepstake ticket for $75 and count me out for the rally.

I don't think I'm cheap. I'll by a $100 ticket through the Porsche Club of America to try to win a restored 911. Just don't sell me a $100 sweepstake ticket that includes a rally ticket that I'm not going to use. (I spent 30+ years in the Army. When I retired I swore I would never sleep in a tent again. )

You'll spend $100 for a chance to win a car that is MAYBE worth $80,000, but you balk at paying $100 for a 1/10,000 odds of winning $300,000 worth of prizes????

Remember after you win a prize, your ticket goes back in the drum for the next prize 62 times. Each time you have 1/10,000 odds to win that prize. You could with 13 motorcycles and hundreds of thousands worth of other stuff. Not likely, but possible.

You may not be cheap, but math may not be your strong suit. Remember, the rally part of the cost of the ticket is only 80 cents. I just think maybe you should wait until next year when things may be more in line with your priorities.

I'll buy a $100.00 ticket if that includes rally fee.

The 7,500 mark is really a safety net for the organization in the event we completely missed the mark with the promotion. One of two things would possibly happen if we didn't reach the 7,500 ticket threshold. We would either continue ticket sales beyond the rally and have a drawing at a later date OR open ticket sales to the general public earlier than July 6th so that we could clear the 7,500 number. All other rules would remain the same.

As it stands right now, I don't see either one of those things happening and the 7,500 rule will likely come off the table shortly. Ticket sales have been brisk and we are prepared to remove it from the rules so that it isn't even a consideration.

The early bird R1200GS Adventure will be drawn May 11th regardless of the number of tickets sold. Someone might be riding a new bike to the Rally!

    Good luck to everyone.

The rider training sponsored by the MOA Foundation saves lives! Some of the training is free and some is heavily subsidised by the Foundation. The SuperStakes III is a win for the Foundation and exciting for those members that wish to participate.

The MOA foundation is the most critical entity for the future of the MOA. If you check the average age figures of the current membership over the past 5 years, there is a critical part of the club that the Foundation addresses.

Getting the attention of young riders to the club and the brand and teaching the sport the right way is not easily done. (Look at our bike culture from the outside in: Squids vs. Hogs, a lousy choice for new rider at any age.)

If Pieter de Waal's comments at the Ambassador's dinner last year are any indication, the Foundation's efforts are not lost on BMW Mottorad either. Looking at 2 dozen + youngsters with BMW Logos on, they had to be the largest "non-gray haired" gathering of BMW riders he has ever seen at any BMW event.
He had amazement in his voice.

Buying a raffle ticket or not, I encourage each and every person that attends the 2012 rally:

STOP IN CAMP GEARS AND SPEND SOME TIME TALKING BIKES WITH THOSE KIDS.
You will immediately see the value of sweepstakes like this one, and the Foundation in general.

A shot at 12 bikes and supporting the MOA Foundation? Count me in... I got one, and it looks like 2, rally fee or no rally fee included.

(a trip to Sedalia is not in the cards for me and my son this year, it saddens us)

    Am I cheap????

This thread doesn't belong here but I'd like an opinion as to the price of the MOA lottery. Previously ticket prices were $10 a piece and now in an economic downturn/slowdown the price is $100!!!!
How many of you are going to participate in this thing???
