    Fuel tank Connections

I am completing a k-bike built from parts purchased one at a time on e-bay. It's been a fun project, however I have hit a snag. While I've tried to use 1985 parts the wiring harness has what looks like the original tag "tank" on one of the connectors. The harness plug does not match the four prong connector under the tank. I'm assuming the tank and harness are from different years. Would anyone know which wires match?

    Thanks!

It's next to impossible to answer your questions without some more info..

Where is the connector on the tank? ('85 was port-side, front; '86 and on was starboard side, rear)

The two aren't really compatible. The '85 uses a Wheatstone-Bridge thermal sensor and starting in '86 BMW went back to a float system (see hexheads for how corportate "memory" sometimes fails and they go back and do the same stupid thing again..)

The fuel pump connections should work, but I don't have diagrams for both around anymore - perhaps Lee does..

What year is the tank/sending unit?

What year is the wiring harness?
