The mirrors from the R11**RS work

as well... but don't look quite as fancy as the K12RS mirrors. I used to have them on my RT for the same reason... so that i could look over the stuff strapped to my seat. The only problem that i ran into, was that when i had an after-market windshield on the bike, they would hit at full lock. Now i just make sure to turn my head.

I don't think you have to do any grinding to accomodate your throttle lever with the GS mirrors either. They just drop through the existing holes and bolt up. Done.

Anyway, it's a matter of taste I suppose. A GS is not as sexy as a K12. But the mirrors work on both.

It has been my experience that you need to get GS mirrors from the same time frame as your RT. I have a 2000 R1100RT, and R1200GS mirrors do not work, but R1100GS mirrors fit perfectly.

I had the same issues with my 2000 Rt as the handlebar grips are a different design as the 02's........and I'm not a fan of the mickey mouse look round mirrors on the RT..............so I did some looking around.............and I found a set of mirrors from "Wunderlich" which were not only pleasig to the eye, but functional. The "ERGO" mirrors come in two different shapes, round (mickey mouse look) and a teardrop shape. Wunderlich calls the latter mirrors "Flash". The "Flash" mirrors are also arm length adjustable, so if you need the extra arm length to see whats behind you it's an easy adjustment. Wunderlich also provides different mounting hardware so you don't have to re-tap your mirror mounts to 10mm as I did. But the hardware with these threaded adaptors was included as well.
The link I provided is for informational purposes only, unless you want to order from the UK.

    Gaston, et al

Thank you ladies and gentlemen for your insightfulness.

I am going long, and will order some K1200RS mirrors for my lady.

Need to take care of those hard to see areas this springtime!

Please keep chiming in, and include your photos!

    With many thanks,

    Jim

    Trimming of L Mirror base

I did this trimming work, with a band saw in my shop, to make room for the cold weather throttle arm, that needs to slide upwards.
