spline lube tutorial wanted 04 R1150

With winter approaching i am getting my list of maintenance issues for my RTP
The bike now has just short of 40,000 miles which from my reading appears to be a good time to complete. bike shifts greatr but my thought is to do it now before it becomes a big issue later.
I have performed this service on my K75s and there was a slew of utube videos and tutorials for the k bike but i do not seem to be able to find one for the R1150
It helps me to have a step by step guide so i take things off and put them back on in order
Any help will be greatly appreciated

This thread is excellent. It goes well beyond the disassembly needed for just a spline lube, but certainly will take you there with plenty of pictures.

Would you replace the clutch while your in there? AT 40,000 it seems reasonable.

My 04 1150RS also has 40,000 or so miles, and will need to lube the splines also

I wouldn't, especially if you plan to lube the splines every 40K. The clutch last 100K miles. Maybe next time at 80K.

Email me or PM me with an email addy, and I'll send you a very handy check list.
I'd post this thing in stickies if I knew how, or better yet ask a moderator to do so..
It's an MSword doc. about 5 pages long, so not a big file.

Hi Jeff488. I think this is the doc you might be talking about. If not, it is a pretty good one too. Just click on the paperclip, browse to the file, select it and click on upload. Should do the trick.

    Yup, that's the one.
Gotta give credit to the guy who provided it to me.
He's from the Beehive Beemer Club(or something like that) in Utah.
I can't recall his name, but I am grateful to him for this checklist.

That's funny Jeff488. You reminded me I forgot to give credit to Chris Ross who kindly sent me his R1100 RT tranny removal write up and included the 1150 spline lube check list.

I was about to thank you both when I found your name at the end of the checklist and now find out you got it from some other member...

    This is getting complicated!

Good news is it's all here somewhere ! Thanks all for the info and help.

If a moderator happens to see this: it would be a helpful thing if this were somehow put up as a sticky in the appropriate place.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    +1

Your checklist was invaluable to me on my recent spline job. Thanks, Jeff.
