    Increasing fuel tank capacity?

So I'm planning a ride to Alaska and back next May/June on my F650GS. Need to increase the distance I can ride between fill ups to about 400 miles I've heard. Other than carrying jerry cans, what options or systems are out there y'all can recommend? I know Touratech has an extra tank that goes replaces the top and side panels but its $1700 which is too much for me to spend.

    Thanks in advance.

Why do you think you need to be able to go 400 miles between fillups? Unless you're doing the haul road or a couple of others there's no reason your stock tank capacity won't get you anywhere you want go.

He has done the trip and said I needed a 400 mile range. If that's not the case, then I've just saved a heap of trouble and money.

Voni and I rode the Cassiar up and Alcan back in 2008. We rode it on F650 Funduro bikes with stock fuel tanks. Those are the 40 mpg F650s with 4.2 gallons till fumes. I carried extra fuel but never used it. We went up in May before some of the places were even open for the season and still didn't have a fuel issue.

Fuel early and often and don't pass a station with 1/2 tank of gas unless you KNOW you are within range of one of the larger towns with several stations.

Cross that issue off the list. Thanks.

I can think of one spot on the Cassiar that might be an issue. It is maybe 250 miles from the Yellowhead to the first fuel headed north. We went to Stewart/Hyder because we intended to anyway, and fueled at Stewart when leaving, to head north.

The detour to Stewart/Hyder is worth it because of the road and glaciers, and Hyder is neat - but if you sail north past Mezedian Junction where there is no gas it could be dicey. If on the Alcan no issue. If on the Cassiar, plan to go to Stewart/Hyder.
