Yet another final drive question
I sent my final drive unit to the dealer for a complete rebuild, to the tune of $550 and reinstalled the unit myself. I rode about 500 miles and drained the fluid as a precautionary measure. I was concerned that the fluid had a gray tint to it rather than the normal amber color. The magnetic drain plug was clean and didn't have any residual metalic matter on it.
I called the dealer and he said not to worry...the unit is basically all new and is getting broke in.
Should I be worried?

They may have added a bit of moly when rebuilt.

Agreed, probably moly.
BUT, have you ridden in the rain since the rebuild?
If so, you might be sucking water in through the FD vent.
That's not good, you don't want water in the unit.
Make sure it sort of snaps on, and the vent hole is facing the rear.
